District celebrates completion of High Line Canal Bridge Replacement Project and new Franklin Street Bridge
Who doesn’t like to hit the trail? Accessing one of the area’s most popular trails is now easier for residents of the Southglenn community, thanks to the installation of a brand new High Line Canal Bridge at the S. Franklin St. dead-end in Centennial. The new pedestrian bridge is part of the High Line Canal Bridge Replacement project, managed by South Suburban.
South Suburban and partners celebrated the project’s completion at the new Franklin St. Bridge in Centennial. In addition to the new bridge, the project included replacing pedestrian bridges along the High Line Canal Trail at three locations: S. Bannock St. and W. Ridge Rd., in Littleton; and South Suburban Ice Arena and deKoevend parking lot in Centennial.
The Franklin St. Bridge will improve access to the High Line Canal Trail for walkers, runners, and cyclists who enjoy recreating on the trail, while also bridging neighbors on the south and north sides of the Canal. Project partners included Arapahoe County Open Spaces, the City of Centennial and the City of Littleton.
