Recycle Your Christmas Tree for Free
Last year, the Willow Spring Service Center chipped nearly 1,800 Christmas trees.
All good things must come to an end, including your beautifully decorated real Christmas tree. As holidays come to a close, and your Christmas tree loses its luster and drop its needles, recycle it and help beautify the community as well.
From December 26- January 12, South Suburban Park and Recreation District and the City of Littleton will offer free Christmas tree recycling at two locations within the District:
- Cornerstone Park, 5150 S. Windermere St. (corner of W. Belleview Ave. and S. Windermere St.)
- Willow Spring Service Center, 7100 S. Holly St., in Centennial
Residents can drop off their tree seven days a week, from sunrise to sunset, in Cornerstone’s parking lot, adjacent to the soccer fields, or at the Willow Spring Service Center in the designated enclosure by the front gate.
Most trash and waste removal companies do not accept Christmas trees, so District residents are encouraged to take advantage of this FREE program. All decorations need to be removed from the tree, including lights, ornaments, garland, tinsel and stands. Flocked or artificial trees and yard refuse will not be accepted.
The trees will be mulched and used in landscaping throughout the South Suburban District and the City of Littleton. Residents can obtain free mulch, beginning December 30. The mulch will be available weekdays, 7:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Willow Spring site.
Mulch is available from the City of Littleton year-round at the northwest corner of S. Prescott St. and W. Prentice Ave. Residents are responsible for loading and are encouraged to bring bags or trash cans and a shovel or pitchfork.
