How to make a difference - Vote for your favorite park!
Have a favorite South Suburban park? Nominate it for a chance to win $20,000 in improvements.
South Suburban Park and Recreation District is participating in the National Recreation and Park Association’s (NRPA) Parks Build Community, an initiative that helps improve parks in communities around the U.S.
The Parks Build Community campaign runs throughout April, which also happens to be Earth Month. Members of the community are encouraged to nominate a favorite District park for a chance to win a $20,000 grant, which will help fund park improvements and upgrades.
South Suburban manages more than 100 parks, including regional parks like Cornerstone and David A. Lorenz; as well as those located within neighborhoods, many of which also include playgrounds.
“Parks are the cornerstone of nearly every community and have immense power to make our lives and the places we live better. they help families live healthier, connect kids to nature, increase access to sports and so much more, “said Barbara Tulipane, president and CEO of NRPA.
Voting takes place through April 30, 2015. Learn more, vote and review the official rules by visiting www.NRPA.org/BeInspired.
