Tai chi is an ancient Chinese martial art and a form of moving meditation, discipline, defense and exercise. It has both martial and health aspects and is practiced by millions in China and throughout the world. The main focus of this class is to promote good health through learning the discipline and the martial aspects of Tai Chi.
Tai chi relieves stress and tension, increases energy and tranquility, regulates the body's internal systems, and improves balance, flexibility, strength and physical and mental well-being. These benefits will occur when one understands the discipline of the art, the martial behind the movements and practices diligently.
This is an on-going beginning class. Two basic Yang-Style tai chi forms will be taught. Level One: 8 forms, Level Two: 16 Forms. You may need multiple class sessions to master each level. It depends on each person's learning capacity and situation.
The tai chi stances, hand positions, movements and forms will be taught in sequence with clear, step by step instruction. Qi Gong and meditation will be introduced and practiced as part of class preparations. Students start with Level One, the 8 Forms.
