South Suburban Secures $900,000 for Inclusive Playground at Cornerstone Park

On June 12, the Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) board awarded $900,000 in funding to South Suburban for its inclusive playground project at Cornerstone Park. The grant, which was awarded through a competitive statewide process, will enable the District to build its first fully inclusive playground, expanding access to outdoor play for families throughout the south metro Denver area.

Free Family Fun Nights at Sheridan Recreation Center

Family Fun Nights at Sheridan Recreation Center are free, open to the public, and packed with fun for all ages! Each evening includes featured activities along with access to the gym, Creativity Lab, pool table, air hockey, and foosball. Complimentary food and snacks will also be available. These events take place from 5:30-7:30 pm on the third Friday in June through September.

South Suburban Stage 1 Drought Response

Historically low snowpack has led Denver Water and others to declare a Stage 1 drought or impose restrictions on their customers. In response, South Suburban is working closely with Denver Water and other water purveyors to cut water usage by 20% across the District this summer. Reduction of water usage aligns with South Suburban’s guiding principle of being stewards of nature and sustainability.
