Financial Aid Program Overview

Parks and recreation facilities and programs are vital to a community’s well-being and improve the quality of life for people around them. Everyone should have the opportunity to participate in organized recreational activities. Our financial program offers financial assistance to District residents who qualify to use District facilities and allow them to participate in recreation programs offered by the District in times of financial stress.

The District’s Financial Aid consists of two programs: Scholarships and Recreation Money. Eligibility for financial assistance is based on gross monthly household income and household size. Applicants must report total monthly household income, including any financial assistance received. The application form provides examples of assistance programs that must be disclosed. Applicants are required to have a current resident address on file prior to submitting a financial aid application.

Scholarships

The District offers scholarships to income-eligible residents (at or below 250% of the Federal Low-Income Standard) so they can access recreational programs and facilities. Residents pay a portion of the cost, and the District covers the remaining balance.

Recreation Money

Recreation Money vouchers are provided to District residents with household incomes at or below 200% of the Federal Income Standard. This program is designed to assist individuals who cannot afford any costs associated with recreation or wellness programs, allowing them to participate in a variety of basic recreational offerings. This program is vetted through Integrated Family Community Services (IFCS). The District third party partner.
