NOTICE: Parking Payment Closed for Season

Parking is free until Summer, 2026.

South Platte River Parking

Paid parking is required June 1 – September 2 on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, for the Platte Canyon Entrance parking lot in South Platte Park. These parking lots are located near the river put-in by C470, accessed off Platte Canyon Road.

Parking is available on a first-come, first-serve basis for $10 per vehicle for 4-hour time blocks.

This payment system will help reduce long wait times, traffic jams, and safety issues by allowing you to plan for your summer river experience.

At times when payment is required, QR code signs will be posted in the parking lots. Payment can be made only after you have occupied an available space. No reservations or offsite payment are available. If QR code signs are not displayed, parking is free.

REMINDER: No alcohol is permitted.

Guidelines

  • A parking permit is $10 per car for a 4-hour time block.
  • Once a spot is secured, payment will be taken via QR code.
  • Paid parking is not required Monday – Friday.
  • Parking is free and first-come, first-served when the park opens at 6:30 am, and spaces must be vacated by 8:45 am, or payment can then be made via the QR code to remain parked after 9 am. Parking is also free after 4:00 pm until the park closure at sunset.
  • Paid parking will be required for all users including anglers, bikers, runners, and birders during these time blocks.
  • Failure to remove your vehicle by the end of your paid window will result in overstay fees or towing.
  • Payment is not required for dropping off riders, using a 10-minute unloading zone, or rideshare activities.

Other River Access Options

  • Drop your group and gear at the put-in using a 10-minute loading zone. Come with your fleet inflated, or unload into the mowed staging area and use our solar-powered inflation station.
  • Use a ride-share service or bike to the start of the float.
  • Book a trip with Adventures West, who provides tubes, life vests, parking and a shuttle from Breckenridge Brewery.
  • Go downstream and float the river near Union Avenue when flows are appropriate.
