Executive Director Candidates Narrowed Down to Three
At last night’s Public Meeting, South Suburban Park and Recreation’s Board of Directors announced the names of finalists for the District’s Executive Director’s position. More than 60 candidates applied from throughout the country, and based on criteria, the search for an executive director was narrowed down to three candidates.
- Lora “Dody” Erickson, Deputy Director of Recreation, City and County of Denver, CO. She has worked for the City and County of Denver for 28 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Recreation from the University of Colorado. She is a Certified Parks and Recreational Professional and a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. She is former president of the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association. Erickson is a resident of Denver.
- Rob Hanna, Director of Parks, Recreation and Golf, Town of Castle Rock, CO. He has held that position since 1998. He has a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. Hanna is a Registered Landscape Architect and is a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional. Hanna is a resident of Castle Pines, CO.
- Christopher Nunes, Director of Parks and Recreation, The Woodlands Township, Texas. He holds a Ph.D., in Parks and Recreation Administration from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, and a M.P.E. in Sports Management and a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Management from Springfield College, MA. Nunes is a Certified Park and Recreation Executive and a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional. He is a resident of The Woodlands, TX.
On June 11, finalists will be interviewed by advisory panels comprised of select South Suburban staff, leadership from governmental agencies in our District and members of the community. The advisory panel interviews will be held in the morning of June 11th at Lone Tree Golf Club & Hotel and the candidates will tour the District in the afternoon.
The public is invited to meet and interact with the three finalists at a candidate reception, hosted by South Suburban Parks and Recreation, on Thurs., June 11 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at Lone Tree Golf Club & Hotel, 9808 Sunningdale Blvd., in Lone Tree.
On June 12, finalists will be interviewed by the Selection Committee made up of the Board of Directors of South Suburban Parks and Recreation.
On Wenesday, June 17, at 7 pm, The District will hold a special Public Meeting to discuss the outcome. The meeting will take place at South Suburban’s Goodson Recreation Center, 6315 S. University Blvd., in Centennial.
In Feburary, the Board selected and hired national executive search firm Peckham & McKenney to conduct the recruitment process, a highly qualified and well connected firm that specializes in providing executive search services to local government agencies throughout the Western United States.
South Suburban Park and Recreation District provides and manages parks, trails, open space and recreation facilities and programs for 146,000 residents living in Littleton, Lone Tree, Sheridan, Columbine Valley, Bow Mar, western Centennial and portions of unincorporated Jefferson, Douglas and Arapahoe counties.
