What’s Your Park and Recreation Story?

What’s Your Park and Recreation Story?

Jul 01 2021

July is Park and Recreation Month, and at South Suburban we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate all of the incredible parks, trails, open spaces, recreation facilities, programs, and community members that make our District so special.

The theme for this year’s Park and Recreation Month is “Our Park and Recreation Story,” so we’re highlighting stories all month long to show how our communities are more vibrant and resilient thanks to the benefits of parks and recreation.

Did biking along your favorite trail improve your mental health last year? Do you have a favorite memory of a birthday party at a park? Does a class at a recreation center help your children grow, learn and thrive? Everyone has a parks and recreation story. What’s yours?

We’re kicking off this month-long celebration with a challenge: Share your park and recreation story on social media for your chance to win a South Suburban swag pack!

Here’s how it works:

  1. Stay tuned to South Suburban’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for the entire month of July, and keep an eye out for #OurParkAndRecStory contest posts. We will post one on July 7, and another on July 21.
  2. Once you see the #OurParkAndRecStory contest post, comment with your parks and recreation story. Your comment will enter you into a random drawing to win awesome prizes! Note: You must comment within a week after our contest post is made live, so don’t wait to join the conversation!
  3. Keep an eye on your inbox, because winners will be notified through direct message by July 31!

Official contest rules:

Two social media contest posts will be posted; 7/7/21 and 7/21/21. There is a one-week entry period per contest, and one winner for each contest (must be 18+ and live in the South Suburban District). To enter, participants must comment on the Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter contest post during the entry period. One winner will be randomly drawn per contest. Winner will be notified via social media direct messaging on the platform through which the entry was received before 7/31/21.
