April is full of opportunities to celebrate the environment and protect the planet we call home! Join South Suburban at these green events throughout the month.

Breckenridge Brewery River and Trail Cleanup
Breckenridge Brewery, Protect Our Rivers and South Suburban are partnering to host a river and trail cleanup on April 20 from 10 am-12 pm. Help pick up trash and remove invasive plants along the South Platte River, then enjoy free beer at the after party celebration. Learn more and RSVP here.

 

NEW DATE: War Memorial Rose Garden Pruning Workshop
Gardeners of all experience levels are invited to the annual Rose Pruning Workshop at the War Memorial Rose Garden on Saturday, May 4 from 8 am-12 pm. The event is free, but registration is required. Sign up to volunteer here.

 

South Suburban Sustainability Committee/City of Sheridan Earth Day Celebration
Celebrate the planet we call home with the South Suburban Sustainability Committee and the City of Sheridan on April 28 from 1-3:30 pm at Bobcat Park. Enjoy sustainability demos, refreshments, giveaways, crafts with instructors from the Sheridan Recreation Center’s Creativity Lab and more. Plus, South Suburban horticulture and forestry staff will be planting trees! Learn more here.

Free Chipping & Mulch Event
Need to get rid of large tree limbs? Residents are invited to bring materials for chipping on June 1! from 8 am-12 pm at Willow Spring Service Center (7100 S. Holly St.) and the Centennial Public Works Facility (7272 S. Eagle St.). Bring a tarp and shovel to take home free mulch! Learn more here.
