The Willow Spring Service Center is the office and work space for the District’s forestry and horticulture crews. The facility sits on the edge of Willow Spring Open Space, which spans 158 acres and includes a network of trails as well as opportunities for recreation and viewing wildlife. The site is home to the District’s annual Christmas tree recycling and free mulch program.
Projects range from one-time activities for larger groups to recurring opportunities for individuals or small groups. We have a variety of forestry and horticulture related volunteer opportunities.
Pay tribute to an individual or group, celebrate a milestone or commemorate a special event by dedicating a tree in a South Suburban park or at a South Suburban facility.
For more information, contact Mindy Albert at MindyA@ssprd.org. To apply, download our Memorial Program application.
Forestry crews generate wood chips from tree pruning and removal operations. These chips are stored at the Willow Spring Service Center and made available in limited quantity to District residents for use in their yards. Please call 303.721.8478 or drop by between 6:00 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. to check for mulch availability.
We ask that you please only take from the 1st pile as you enter.
