New Pickleball Courts at Cornerstone Park are open for Play

Jan 21 2016

Pickleball fans now can enjoy drop-in play, available year-round on the new, outdoor Pickleball courts at Cornerstone Park, 5150 S. Windermere St.  Pickleball is free to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.

Pickleball is similar to tennis; however the court is smaller in size and the net is lower in height.  Players use a paddle and a Whiffle ball, and can play as singles or doubles.  Players need to provide their own equipment.

The final court surface could not be applied before the low overnight temperatures set in, so a temporary surface has been provided.  The final court surface will be applied when overnight temperatures consistently rise about 40-45 degrees, generally between May 1 and June 1.  Snow or ice removal may damage the courts and is not allowed.  Please let the sunshine do its work!  The courts are located on the south side the Park, and parking is available in the lot off of S. Hickory St.

Additional Improvements Coming Spring 2016

  • Lighting will be available when Daylight Savings begins
  • Windscreens
  • 2 shade shelters with picnic tables
  • Final court surfacing

The project was funded by South Suburban and Arapahoe County Open Spaces.  For more information on the construction contact Melissa Reese-Thacker, Senior Park Planner, at or 303-483-7023.  For information on Pickleball, please contact 303-798-7515 or visit
