District's Matching Gifts Program helps provide additional benefits and amenities for Residents
Sharing the cost of purchasing equipment or planting trees, helps minimize expenditures and provides more benefits and amenities for residents and patrons of the District. That’s the idea behind South Suburban’s Matching Gifts Program.
The program encourages neighborhoods, homeowner associations, sports groups, businesses and other organizations to partner with us in the continuing development and improvement of District parks, facilities and programs. It also creates the opportunity for interested groups and individuals to provide a meaningful gift to the community.
Requests for funding must be in writing and meet certain requirements. Applications of less than $2,000 are more likely to be approved for funding than applications in excess of the amount. Applications for the Matching Gifts Program are due March 11, 2016 and South Suburban’s Board of Directors will tentatively approve staff recommended requests for the Program at the April 13, 2016 Board meeting.
The Board of Directors has allocated up to $15,000 to the Matching Gifts Program for 2016. All projects approved will be completed in 2016. Examples of eligible projects include development or improvements to playgrounds; general park improvements, i.e., benches, drinking fountains; special equipment to support group activities, i.e., scoreboards, athletic equipment; and beautification projects, i.e., trees, flower and shrub beds, and more.
To apply for the Matching Gifts Program, fill out the 2016 Matching Gifts Application. Don't delay, applications are due by 5 pm on March 11, 2016.
