Public Art Committee to Decommission Art at Heritage Village Park

Dec 27 2021

The South Suburban Public Art Committee has voted to decommission two art pieces located at Heritage Village Park. Part of the decommissioning process is to publicly announce the District’s intent to remove the two printed acrylic panels, Policeman Small and Fireman Small.

South Suburban acquired the pieces in approximately 2001, and they have since experienced general wear, sun damage and vandalism. The panels were created by artist Anna-Maria Crum, and are based on children’s book author and illustrator Lois Lenski’s original artwork.

The panels will be considered for decommissioning at an upcoming Board of Directors meeting. If approved, the panels will be removed in spring 2022.

If you have comments regarding the proposed decommissioning of the pieces, please contact Mike Braaten, Deputy Executive Director, at 303.483.7003 or mbraaten@ssprd.org.
