Celebrate the Environment with Earth-Friendly April 2022 Events

April is full of opportunities to enhance and celebrate the environment! Our parks, trails, open spaces and natural resources make our community a wonderful place to live, work and play. Join South Suburban at these green events throughout the month.  

Earth Day River Clean Up with Breckenridge Brewery

Help prepare trails and parks for spring and summer fun! South Suburban is working with Breckenridge Brewery, River Network, Carson Nature Center, Denver Audubon, and Aspen Grove to plant trees and shrubs, remove litter and invasive plants, and mitigate wildfire brush. Sign up to volunteer at any of the three events/locations, which will take place on April 23 from 9 am - 12 pm.

South Platte Renew’s 4th Annual Earth Day River Clean-Up

Join South Platte Renew for their annual River Clean-Up event. From April 11 – 23, community members will work together to remove debris along the South Platte River. Learn more and register here.

Arbor Day Tree Planting at Lone Tree Elementary School

South Suburban horticulture and forestry crews will be planting trees at Lone Tree Elementary School to celebrate Arbor Day on April 30.

Free Chipping & Mulch Event

Need to get rid of large tree limbs? Residents are invited to bring materials for chipping on April 30 from 8 am - 12 pm at Willow Spring Service Center (7100 S. Holly St.) and the Centennial Public Works Facility (7272 S. Eagle St.). Bring a tarp and shovel to take home free mulch!

War Memorial Rose Garden Pruning Workshop

Gardeners of all experience levels are invited to the annual Rose Pruning Workshop at the War Memorial Rose Garden on April 30 from 8 am - 3 pm. The event is free, but registration is required. Learn more here, and sign up to volunteer here
