What used to be a dirt lot is now a lush green park with seating, trees, pathways and lights. Christened Veterans Park, it was formally dedicated on Oct. 12 in Sheridan.
Joining in the celebration were Sheridan Mayor Dallas Hall and City Council Members Tara Beiter-Fluhr, Sally Daigle and Gary Howard; City Manager Devin Granberry and Sheridan Public Works Superintendent Randy Mourning. South Suburban Parks and Recreation Board Member Pam Eller and South Suburban Parks and Recreation Executive Director Rob Hanna also participated.
The half-acre park is located directly west of Sheridan Municipal Building, and nearby Sheridan High School, Sheridan Library and the Sheridan Recreation Center. It offers a nice place to relax, play or hang out with friends. The park features a concrete trail system, a central plaza area with benches, lights, a retaining/seating wall, shade trees, irrigation system and an open area for playing.
The City of Sheridan fully funded the development of the park. We managed the development of the site and will maintain the park, along with the eight other parks in Sheridan.
